I Have Dreams - Three Days 'Til Christmas (1999)

  cover

Happy (almost) Christmas!  I admittedly forgot I made this, so to apologize, here's an EP (and the only release) by the band I Have Dreams.

I Have Dreams was a screamo/emo band from Tallahassee, Florida, that was born from the ashes of a band called New Ethic, when their guitar player Daniel died in a car accident. New Ethic played their last show in August, 1998 with Daniel's best friend Mike Hanson in his place, and it was about a month or two later that I Have Dreams started playing. The band consisted of Allen Compton and Mike Peters on vocals, Mike Hanson on guitar, Ben Seals on bass and Clayton Rychlick on drums. I Have Dreams were more than a band - in the words of Mike Peters: "It was an attempt to cope with the pain everyone was feeling after Daniel's death." I Have Dreams were together for roughly six months, and they broke up in the Spring (around April/May) of 1999.

Only found this recently, but I thought it was just the right time. I'll try my best to update this blog in the new year, but no promises! :)

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Guitar For Jodi EP (1999)

Thank the people over at Soulseek for this one!

From Wikipedia:

Guitar for Jodi is the debut EP by the Washington, D.C. rock band Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. It was released in 1999 by Persona Recordings. Like the group's debut album of the same year, it is technically a Ted Leo solo recording.

Fun EP, wasn't available anywhere around here (there was an upload of the songs on YouTube at some point but the videos were deleted and there was a blog that had the link to download the songs but the link is now dead). Found it on Soulseek a while back and now I decided that should change.

Here's the download links:

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Mo' Living (2009)

Great EP, definitely worth your time. Was released as a bonus with the first CD pressings of TL/RX's album "Living With The Living". Deserves more listens than it does. Download and enjoy to your content.

Toru Okada - (Almost) Full Discography (2003-06)

Toru Okada was a screamo band that I absolutely adore. Their sound, screams, and everything else makes me feel so many emotions. I wish I had born at least a while before I was so that I could have seen them live. This band is one of those bands that are great both in studio and in concert.

What's in there: Their debut self-titled album, a collection of demos, and two splits (the first with Die, Emperor! Die!, who's eventually going to get a post here, and the second with Olive Tree, who might get a post). The splits have the songs from both bands in them. The only thing missing from here is a "Winter Tour '04" CD that hasn't been uploaded anywhere to my knowledge and has no copies for sale on Discogs. I'm in contact with some people who have the CD and asking them how much they might want for it/if they could rip it. Nothing as of yet but hopefully something comes soon.

This post has been in the works for a while because I've been trying to get the highest quality versions of these songs, apologies if it isn't up to par.

Note: The version of 8 Songs/10 Songs I have here would be the 10 Songs version, however the last two songs are the same as the one that's on the Olive Tree split so it's unnecessary to add them again. Also, the version of Our Great Cities on 8 Songs is slightly different than the one from the DED split and it's labeled as such in the metadata of the song file.

Chumbawamba - In Memoriam: Margaret Thatcher (2013)

Ding dong, the wicked witch's (been) dead. Haven't seen download links for this one anywhere. It's a fun EP with some great songs on it. The version I have here has all the songs, plus the live debut of "So Long, So Long" (track 2 from the EP) from May of 2009, but it was not uploaded until 2013 upon request from the band themselves.

For those who know Chumba from "Tubthumping" or if you've never heard of this EP, let me explain...

Sometime in the mid-2000s (I've seen and heard 2005 and 2008 thrown around), Chumbawamba recorded an EP and put it up for pre-order on their online store and pre-orders at shows. It would be released under a particular circumstance: when Margaret Thatcher, Britain's first woman prime minister, would pass away.

If you're wondering why I included the live debut of "So Long, So Long" here, it's a great performance. Seeing as Chumbawamba broke up in 2010 and likely will never reform, it might be one of the only performances of any song from this EP.

Anyway, enjoy!
